Fully ISF calibrated this screen uses the same gamma and colour management systems as featured in the THX rated DLA-HD750, and boy does it use them to some effect. You just have to come and see to believe the amount of on-screen colour and shadow detail that has been possible with LCD technology... |

With the imminent demise of the Pioneer KURO range Panasonic seem to have been all too ready to stomp all over the reference monitor market with their VX100 range. Now we've only just started seeing the PF11 screens in some of the larger screen sizes, but the VX100 is a very different beast indeed. A hand picked Panasonic glass with speciality electronics inside it made for AV Nutters like us using dedicated video processing and and hifi components that cost more than our houses!! Yes before you all ask, the KURO screens still win the black level war. I knew I would end up eating my words one day... Many of you will know me for my plasma fan boy antics and the fact that I would never consider any LCD TV as a high-end solution for moving images. And until we really get to see and test some of the new batch of JVC LCD TVs I still stand by my past comments. But, have JVC done to LCD TVs what they did with LCD projection when they flipped it on their head with the LCOS projectors? We just love these new active near-field monitors from Genelec. They're designed for use with a computer system in 2.1 configuration, and work equally well in a small 5.1 system, but the real joy is in just plugging in a Sonos zone player, or iPod or laptop and having real Hi-Fi quality audio from your small portable device! They're so small you could easily put them in a small bag and carry them around with you on your travels - Genelec quality sound on the move. |

Our demo room has seen a few changes over the last couple of weeks. New to Progressive AV and our demo room are Meridian Audio products. We have on permanent demonstration DSP5200 and DSP3100 Digital Active speakers with the new G61R processor and also the G92 DVD Processor. On the display department we are now sporting Pioneer KURO KRP-600M and Panasonic TH-42PF11 plasma displays, and the new JVC DLA-HD350 (also see below). We have already been through our first few batches of 42PH11, 50PH11 and 42PF11 from Panasonic and the first impressions are excellent! The new panel is far cleaner than before with a very impressive black level performance and natural picture dynamics. A few new features come to play for the calibrator making this an even more suitable screen for video processor users. We have a 42PF11 on demo in our office for anyone who wants to see it in the flesh |

The H.O.S.T (High Definition Optical Signal Transfer) provides a media box with 6 HDMI inputs, HD-SDI connectivity and a handful of analogue connections which can b positioned up to 250m away from the projector with no signal loss whatsoever! |

The already popular 42DS9 just got more popular by releasing a gloss white edition unique to the installation market! The TV is already very thin with a tiny bezel, but the all gloss white paint just finishes it off to fit into most contemporary homes very nicely! |
